There are two types of FreeView Set Top Boxes. Standard Definition (SD) boxes and High Definition (HD) The Freeview SD boxes are perfect for upgrading an old analogue TV whether it is LCD Plasma or CRT (Glass Tube)

Freeview HD box is suitable for upgrading an HD Ready LCD  or Plasma TV so that you may watch High definition programmes after digital switch over. There is No point buying a Freeview HD box for an old Analogue TV as it is unlikely to be HD ready.
